Here we go: 1)Download & install the newest Desktop Manager Version HERE 2) Connect BB 3) Open DM 4) Select Switch Device Wizard 5) Select Switch BB Devices 6) Select Next 7) Select USB & then your PIN # 8) Select Next. Enter your Password if required 9) Uncheck User Data & Settings and also Include Messages so that only 3rd Party Apps is selected 10) Select Next 11) When it's done backing up leave the screen as is. DO NOT select Next or Cancel 12) Search your computer Folders & Files for a folder with your PIN # as the name. DEFINITELY check System Files & Hidden Files as well 13) After you find it, copy it & SAVE it to a easy accessible place 14) Go back to the Switch Device Wizard page that we left alone & cancel it. ALSO, check and make sure the folder IS saved before Canceling or the folder will be LOST 15) You can now wipe the device with JL_Cmder RESTORATION 1) After you've loaded the OS go back & run the Apploader & Select ADD 2) "Browse" to find the folder we saved with your PIN # and Double click on the file named yourpin.alx. 3) Your 3rd Party Apps should appear in the Apploader screen 4) Select Finish to load Apps to device 5) Now you may restore other data from a previous backup. ***UPDATE FOR DM 4.7*** 1) Plug in device>Open DM>Device Switch Wizard 2) DSW>BlackBerry devices 3) Make sure ONLY 3rd Party Applications is checked>Select Next 4) DM will back up 3rd party apps, when finished DO NOT select Next or Cancel!!! 5) Search your computer Files & Folders and DEFINITELY make sure to search HIDDEN FILES & FOLDERS for a folder with the same name as your PIN and a .alx file. 6) Move both the folder and .alx file to an easy a accessible place you remember. 7) Go back to the DM and cancel the process. (Tips) Disable Blackberry event log to free up memory

Do you know that your Blackberry smartphone actually keep
track every activity into event log? Event log is located into a
secret place and you need special key press to access it. Due
to event log keep track everything in your Blackberry from
time to time, therefore it will gradually eat up more system
memory.
Usually we don't need the event log information, I would
suggest you disable event log to free up memory. Following is
the secret to disable Blackberry event log.
At Blackberry home screen press ALT + LGLG If you
successful, you will access to event log windows
Press menu button, select Options to access to EventLogger

Press Menu button again, select "Hide all types"
Save and quit.

(TIPS) Ultimate Guide to Optimizing your Blackberry - Part 3 : Memory cleaning

Your BlackBerry has an on-board
memory cleaner, and it's probably worth
running every once in a while. I'm not
sure how much it really does — the
process took something like two
seconds. But it's already on your device,
so you might as well run it once a month
or so, just to let it run its course.
To do this, go to Options, Security Options, General Settings.
There you'll see Content Protection. Change it from Disabled
to Enabled. A prompt will notify you that you'll need to set a
password. Even if you don't want to, you can change this all
back afterward. Hit the Escape key to back out, and you'll get
the prompt for your password, and then verification.
After you choose your password, back all the way out and
come back into Security Options again. There you'll see an
option for Memory Cleaning. Click into that, and change the
Show Icon on Home Screen option to Yes. You'll recognize it
easily: a paper going through a shredder. Run it, and that's it.
To reverse the process, go back into Security Options,
General Settings, and disable Content Protection. Make sure
to disable your password as well if you don't want one.

Why does my BlackBerry battery draining fast & gets really hot!

Has anyone gone through the process of finding out what's
getting so hot when your BlackBerry is in the 'battery only
lasts 6 hours or less' mode?
RIM's Announcement:
Some of the BlackBerry suffers rapid battery drain and overall
sluggishness due to the phone application utilizing high
amount of CPU.
But:
what other matters can be the same cause.
Weak Signal network or no network
1. Yes, Weak network singal or no network at the same
time could cause the BlackBerry SmartPhone to conitue
look for signals and may cause to battery to drain much
faster and you could notice your phone gets hot quickly.
The solution is to change the network settings on a 2G
(GPRS) only if you are located in areas that do not have
good network converage. But remember whenever you
switch to 2G (GPRS) you might experience delay on BBM
Messaging or browsing.
Application running in background
The Best solution is to make sure you completely close out
of apps, and disable auto updates on apps that do so. To
check is holding the BlackBerry Logo on the menu button
on the keypad and you can see apps that is running and
make sure your press ESC or select close or exit command
from the applicaiton that you wish to close and avoid
running behind the backgroud.
